On Friday, May 13, 2022, Bruce Holloman departed from this life to be with the Lord while at home in Bronx, New York.
Bruce was born on Jan. 31, 1968, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the oldest sibling to Mary Lou Holloman and Booker T. Jacobs. As a child, he attended Mt. Olive AME Church. He received his education at Bishopville High School. He was employed by Vali Industries of Brooklyn, New York, as a Caterpillar (Wheel Excavator) operator.
Bruce is remembered and mentioned by friends telling of the good times they shared. He is affectionately known by many of his childhood friends as "Charles Bronson." He enjoyed sports, especially baseball, holding down first base with his left-handed glove while in school and on the neighborhood baseball/softball team. He also enjoyed reading and lifting weights. Terry Gary speaks of the many memories she has of Bruce and what a caring individual Bruce was. LaJefa Martinez, a co-worker, shared laughter about carpooling into work together and what a genuinely good person he was and how comfortable she was sharing with him.
Bruce was preceded in death by his sisters, Regina Holloman and Patricia "Patti" Jacobs-Smith; and father, Booker T. Jacobs.
Remembering the joys of his life are his mother, Mary Lou Holloman of Bishopville; his son, Bruce Holloman of Winter Springs, Florida; one sister, Tammy Jacobs of Patterson, New Jersey; five brothers, Christopher (Hiroko) Holloman of Honolulu, Hawaii, Wayne Holloman of Tumon, Guam, Anthony (Erica) Holloman, Ivan Holloman and Terrance Holloman, all of Bishopville; three aunts, Mary Dabreu of Florence, Brazilla (Joseph) Holmes of Bishopville and Katie H. Bowen of Charlotte, North Carolina; one great-uncle, John Butler of Woodrow; two great-aunts, Winnie Wilson of Mayesville and Emma Butler of Woodrow; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during all visitation at the home, 115 Blue Bird Lane, Bishopville.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. R.L. Brown, pastor of Mt. Olive AM. Church, eulogist.
The procession will leave the home at 10:20 a.m.
